Grade 2 Update:
Dear Parents,
The Grade 2’s have
had a great month settling back into the school routines! September was a fun
month. We had our wonderful school BBQ, our school opening Mass and our Terry
Fox Run. Thank you to those who were able to attend Parent Teacher Meetings. It
was wonderful to meet you all and I’m looking forward to working with your
child this year!
The following is a
quick update on what will be taking place this month in our classroom and at
St. Luke’s:

What
will we be learning about this month?
French Language Arts: Thanksgiving and Halloween activities such
as vocabulary, story writing and crafts.
English Language Arts: We will be starting the novel “Charlotte’s
Web” by E. B. White. We will study vocabulary, make predictions about the story
as we read along and do multiple choice activities.
Math: We will continue representing and describing numbers to 100.
We will also start adding and subtracting 1- and 2-digit numbers.
Social Studies: We will be exploring the landforms and
geography of Iqaluit, Saskatoon and Meteghan. You could assist your child with
this at home by looking at pictures of each of these communities online.
Science: We will continue learning about magnetism with a large focus
on identifying where magnets are used in the environment.
Health: We will continue exploring safety and responsibility and learn
about nutrition.
Art: This month, the students will be working on pumpkin seed art.
Religion: The students will continue learning about
how we belong to God’s Family and will explore the important aspects of our
Church Community.
